Chocolate is a typical sweet, usually brown food prepared from Theobroma cacao seeds, roasted and grounded, and often flavored with vanilla or any other flavor. It is made in form of a liquid, paste, or in a block, or used as a flavoring ingredient in other food recipes. Chocolate commonly comes in dark, milk, and white varieties; with cocoa solids contributing to the brown color to chocolate. Chocolate is one of the most popular foods in the world. It has been traded internationally to countries, from underdeveloped to developed countries. Chocolate is made from beans derived from cocoa tree. Cocoa beans are very bitter, so cocoa butter and cocoa solids has sugar added to it. Chocolate has become one of the most popular food types and flavor in the world, and a vast number of foodstuffs involving chocolate have been created, including cakes, pudding, mousse, chocolate brownies, pastries, and chocolate chip cookies. Many candies and toffees are filled with or coated with sweetened chocolate, and bars of solid chocolate and candy bars coated in chocolate are eaten as snacks. There are many types of chocolate; dark chocolate, milk chocolate, sweet chocolate.
- Dark chocolates: are unsweetened containing cocoa solids and cocoa butter.
- Milk chocolates: are sweet in taste and contains milk powder and condensed milk.
- White chocolates: contain sugar, milk and cocoa butter but no cocoa solids.
Chocolates have both positive and negative effects on the health. Chocolate contains more than 300 chemicals. Consumption of the chocolate especially dark chocolate is growing rapidly because of the health benefits.
