#23- Dark Chocolate is a Powerful Source of Antioxidants
Antioxidant is actually a substance that inhibits oxidation, especially one used to counteract the deterioration of stored food products.
Dark chocolate is loaded with organic compounds that are biologically active and function as antioxidants. These include polyphones, flavones, and catechins, among the others. One study showed that cocoa and dark chocolate contained more antioxidant activity, polyphones and flavones than other fruits they tested, which included blueberries and Acai berries.
