A mushroom is the fleshy fruiting body of a fungus. Mushrooms are formed above the ground on soil or on its food source. They are good in taste and have specific identification. Some of mushrooms have poisonous while some are edible. Raw brown mushrooms contain 90% of water, 6% carbohydrates whereas 2% of protein and less than 2% fat. In a hundred gram of mushroom we have 22 calories and are a good source of B vitamins as riboflavin, niacin and pantothenic acid, copper and selenium and a restrained source of phosphorus potassium and zinc. Vitamin C and sodium have no or nominal content.
