#19 – Aerocycle
In the 1950’s, Lackner Helicopters constructed a surprising airplane. The HZ-1 Aerocycle was planned to be controlled by unpracticed pilots that have experience with the US Army. The early testing proved that the craft would surely give us versatility. But more extensive research proved that the airplane would be excessively troublesome, making it difficult to control for untrained infantrymen. After a couple of accidents, the project was canceled, but many of the war games still use the aero cycle concept. And they can be rebuilt to be better in the future as technology is advancing.
