25 Most Corrupt Leaders in the World

#17 – Sigmundur Davio Gunnlaugsson – Prime Minister of Iceland (former)

Sigmundur Davio Gunnlaugsson is the name of an Icelandic politic figure and the former Prime Minister of Iceland. He was in the position as the Prime Minister of Iceland from 2013 to April 2016, but he had to reassign from the position after the leak of Panama Papers.

It was proven that Sigmundur lied to millions of Icelanders that he had no connections with Wintris, the creditor company of numerous Icelandic banks that failed during the 2008 Iceland Financial Crisis. However, Panama Papers had revealed that both Sigmundur and his wife were one of the main shareholders of Wintris. He had also laundered numerous amounts of money together with his wife.
